Weapon mods are attachments and upgrades that change how a weapon performs in Marathon. They are part of the game’s larger buildcrafting system and can affect handling, control, reload behavior, and other weapon traits.

Weapon mods work through a slot system. Chip mods appear to be the universal slot type, while other slots can include magazines, barrels, grips, optics, and certain weapon-specific parts like generators or shields. Different weapons support different combinations.

Yes. Marathon lets you swap weapon mods, and inspecting a weapon opens the mod workbench so you can make those changes before your next match.

Weapon mods can come from progression rewards and the Armory. There are Standard, Enhanced, and Deluxe Chip Mods in progression caches, and Traxus progression unlocks more mod access through rotating Armory offerings.

The main mod types tied to Marathon weapons include Chip Mods, Magazine Mods, Barrel Mods, Grip Mods, Shield Mods, Generator Mods, and Optic Mods.

Traxus is the faction most closely tied to weapon mods right now. Its progression tracks include unlocks for AR mods, SMG mods, precision mods, volt mods, and chip mods, along with higher-tier mod access later in progression.
